American trumpeter Peter Evans will return to Jazz em Agosto to play with together with Evan Parker's Electro-Acoustic Ensemble. Peter Evans played a memorable solo on the last year edition of the festival, followed by a great show with his own quartet: Peter Evans (trumpet, piccolo trumpet), Ricardo Gallo (piano), Tom Blancarte (double bass), Kevin Shea (drums). Live in Lisbon was released by Clean Feed on the Jazz em Agosto Series, a collection of live recordings made during Gulbenkian’s festival. Last May, Peter Evans was at Culturgest and at Jazz ao Centro Festival with Moppa Elliott ’s Mostly Other People Do the Killing . In Coimbra, this prodigious player did also a solo concert . Hold your breath and listen to this amazing solo improvisation, recorded at William Paterson University. December 1, 2009.

A wonderful release from 1996 by Han Bennink and Dave Douglas on Songlines records . Two amazing players that have been in Lisbon several times for previous editions of Jazz em Agosto festival. American trumpeter Dave Douglas was one of the key names in the last year edition, with his amazing Brass Ecstasy project. Twelve years before, in 1997, Douglas played at Gulbenkian's festival with his sextet. Han Bennink will be celebrated in the 2010 edition .

Unconventional veteran Dutch drummer Han Bennink will be portrayed at Jazz em Agosto festival on a documentary film by Jellie Dekker and Dick Lucas - Han Bennink «Hazentijd» . The day after, Sunday the 8th of August, Mr. Bennink will play together with Dutch pianist Guus Janssen. Han Bennink has played at Jazz em Agosto, so far at least three more times - in the 2000 edition in a duo with Ellery Eskelin (sax) and as member of the portentous Instant Composers Pool Orchestra, funded in 1967 by Mr. Bennink and pianist Misha Mengelberg . In 2003, Bennink has visited Lisbon with the Boeren Double Quartet . Did I mentioned unconventional??
