The Story of Cymande: Getting it Back

In the beginning there was the rhythm…

This is the story of a group of black musicians that came together in South London in the racially turbulent UK of the early 1970s. Using rhythm as a source power message for peace and a dove as their logo, Cymande played Caribbean grooves tuned with jazz, funk and soul.
Today, Cymande songs are raw material and inspiration for new generations of artists. Their music was essential for a wide range of projects from Soul II Soul to De La Soul or MC Solaar to The Fugees. And their message has never been so fundamental.

Directed by Tim MacKenzie-Smith, the movie "Getting It Back: The Story Of Cymande" is their story.
