John Zorn early interview. It's the countdown for Zorn@60 in Lisbon

Zorn@60 arrives in Lisbon this week. Jazz em Agosto festival will host three performances exploring his epic oeuvre, as part of a global celebration of the composer’s 60th that includes events throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Zorn will be at Gulbenkian Foundation with some long-time collaborators, namely Marc Ribot, Joey Baron, Cyro Baptista, Ikue Mori, Jamie Saft among others.

"For me music is about people, about community. It has always been my policy to work with friends—with people who are passionate and loyal, who are true believers. In addition to the musicians, Zorn@60 also embraces a community of curators and presenters who have shown loyalty and support through the years. That’s part of what makes this whole celebration so special to me—working with friends."

Good be in this shortlist of your friends. We look forward see you again in Lisbon,  John!
